Sports Psychology And Basketball: What Are The Most Common Problems?

Over the years, I have counseled many basketball players: NBA players, WNBA players, AAU Players, Division I Players, Junior High Players and players who play on travel teams.
The most common issues that they bring to my attention include the following: loss of confidence in shooting, struggling with foul shooting, being intimidated by other players, fear of making mistakes, fear of letting their teammates, fear of disappointing their coaches, anxiety when they play in front of recruiters or scouts, difficulty managing travel, difficulty managing academics and sports, conflicts with coaches and teammates, recovering from an injury, not understanding what they do well and what they need to work on,not knowing their brand as a player, struggling to get more playing time, remaining focused in hostile gyms, not knowing how to get mentally and physically ready to compete, and performing better in practice than in game conditions.
Many players like the stay in the zone program. Chapter 7 is a favorite for players who want to shoot better.
