About The Zone

Dreams Can Become Reality

What does it mean to be in the zone?

The zone is a mental state of relaxed concentration which includes mental focus and a sense of calmness and confidence. Actions and decisions are effortless and easy. There is no self-criticism and the person is living in the moment. The athlete is playing in the here and now. Actions seem effortless and easy. There is also an increased belief that your dreams can become reality.
The zone is a mental state of a heightened sense of awareness and focus.

Develop Mental Toughness

Mental toughness gives you the ability to overcome doubts and concerns that prevent you from excelling and achieving a desirable performance outcome. Having mental toughness and the right mental attitude enables you to remain determined, focused, confident and in control, especially in high pressure situations.
Since 1978, Dr. Granat has counseled thousands of highly competitive athletes from many different sports. His clients have included golfers, tennis players, bowlers, runners, boxers, baseball players, basketball players, pool players, hockey players, ice skaters, wrestlers, fencers and martial artists.

In many instances, Dr. Granat can give the athlete the guidance, direction and information they need to get out of a slump, beat players they should beat and get back on the right track. He can usually pinpoint what it will take for them to "improve confidence, focus and strength." Sometimes, a little advice can make the difference between winning and losing. Similarly, the right kind of confidence can make a difference between second place and your championship. The right mental attitude and coaching can impact your ability to achieve your goals, excel and get that championship or scholarship you have dreamed about.
